Summertime Joys

I am so looking forward to my vacation coming up. Our family has planned many fun activities: camping at the ocean, taking care of grandkids, visiting family and taking day trips. Joyce and I are very excited about this time.

Planning, looking forward, preparing, realizing, enjoying and reflecting are all apart of our vacation experiences. Still, we know these are actually things we do all the time. Especially as a church. We are in the process of planning for the fall. We are hopeful and expectant that we will be able to do many of the events and activities that we did before COVID 19.

We are in the process of planning a kickoff barbecue in September. We are planning and arranging a commissioning for our Pastor Nominating Committee in September. We are planning to resume our Sunday School program this fall. We are hoping to resume having our choir in worship this fall.

These are just some of the things we are looking at for the fall. We are looking forward to do ministry once again in vital and meaningful ways.

Paul writes in:

Philippians 3:13-14

I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

I think it is an understatement to say we are eager to forget what we have gone through with this pandemic. It has been debilitating, draining, and depleting for us all. We have found that we have had a hard time dealing with things in such a limited way. It has been a stressful and difficult time.

We are planning and hoping that we have turned the corner on this disease. We trust that this resurgence is short-lived, and we are back planning, preparing, and hopefully engaging in our various ministries again.

Along with this, we are eager to put our mission study to use. We are looking at ways we can connect and welcome new people, and in particular young adults and families.

Likewise, we have prioritized and chosen to foster spiritual growth in assisting everyone in their daily spiritual journeys. As well, we are seeking to grow closer with one another in the church.

These are great ways to strain forward to attain the goals we have chosen.

We encourage you to join us this fall and assist us in our efforts to do ministry for and in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
